Our “Christmas with Canticus” performance this year will feature as guest artists, the Olde Towne Singers. They are members of the Wenger Family who perform throughout the region in Dickens era costumes. Steve Wenger is the patriarch of the family and has been a member of the Canticus tenor section since our second season. The Olde Towne Singers have performed in Leavenworth often during the holiday season and have appeared at holiday festivals throughout the Pacific Northwest.
The program also includes a variety of choral music from the holidays including new music such as “Blessed Be That Maid Marie,” an interesting setting of an old Latin hymn by the contemporary composer Susan LaBarr. “What Child Is This?” and “I Saw Three Ships” are two energetic arrangements by Mark Riese.
John Rutter is a favorite composer of singers and audiences alike and we are proud to present his wonderful arrangement of “Silent Night.” There will also be arrangements by me of “Jingle Bells” for sopranos and altos, “Jul, Jul, Strålande Jul.”
PLEASE NOTE: There will be another pre-concert talk by Artistic Director Scott Peterson beginning at 3:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room at Englewood Christian Church. All are welcome. No additional fee to attend.
