Requirements and Expectations for Singers
Singers wanting to audition for Canticus Vocal Ensemble need to contact Scott Peterson, Artistic Director, to make an audition appointment. The auditioner is expected to be able to read music well and complete an audition.
The audition will consist of:
- Vocalization
- Pitch Matching
- Repeated patterns on pitch
- Sing 30 seconds of an Italian Art Song, aria or a selection from the classical canon that shows the voice at it’s best quality.
- Sight reading of an appropriate part from choral literature chosen by the auditioner.
The audition takes about 15 minutes to complete.
Members of Canticus Vocal Ensemble are expected to come to rehearsal with assigned selection prepared and ready to rehearse. We usually have 5 rehearsals for every performance.
